Subject: Workaround to sync Contact en Calendar entries with iPhone using MobileMe
Feedback Type: Suggestion
Product Area: Notes 8 Client
Technical Area: Functionality
Platform: Windows XP client
Release: 8.0.1
Reproducible: Not applicable
Probably some other already using this method, but since I got many questions about it I thought I might share it with you.
Personally I love the iPhone! but I'am disappointed about the fact that I am not able to sync my contact, calender entries and mail. I can live with the iNotes ultralight solution for e-mail which will be availible in domino 8.0.2. But for contacts I think it is not very useful as you have to login to a website every time you want to dial a contact.
So I found my self a workaround (only possible with Mobile Me account): As mobile me is capable of syncing contacts and calendar entries with Outlook. I installed outlook with a DAMO client. When iTunes is installed on the machine you have the possibility to edit the mobile me preferences from your windows control panel.
I configured my preferences to synhronise contacts and calender with outlook.
In fact outlook synchronise with lotus notes. Mobile.me syncs with outlook and my iphone an mac syncs with mobile me.
A lot of steps but it is possible to sync your contacts and calendar. I only advise this workaround for people who know what they are doing :-). At this moment I keep the golden rule that everything whithin Lotus Notes i leading. So if nececery I can clean all entries in MobileMe (iPhone & Mac Contacts en Calendar) and overwrite it with my Lotus Notes information (this option is availible within Mobile Me preferences).
